  • Justine STEZYCKI, Agente commerciale principale, Bureau des Investissements et du Commerce de l’Ontario à Paris

Justine Stezycki has worked within international trade development since 2012, first at the Department for International Trade, based in the British Embassy in Paris, and then as Senior Commercial Officer at Ontario’s Paris Trade and Invesment Office within the Embassy of Canada since 2018. Justine has focused her work on advising foreign companies wishing to export to France and on assisting French companies expand internationally (UK and Ontario). Justine’s experience is mainly within the medical technologies, aerospace, clean technologies and ICT secteurs.

  • Yixin GUAN et Jenny GE, Conseillères principales de secteur, Ministère du Développement Économique, de la Création d’Emplois et du Commerce de l’Ontario :

Jenny B. GE is a Senior Sector Advisor with the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade. As part of the Life Sciences Unit, she works with medical device, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in Ontario and abroad on issues such as trade, investment, business expansion and government policy. Jenny has previously worked at the Ministry of Health/Ministry of Long-Term Care and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing on both healthcare policy and programs. She is a graduate of Ivey Business School at Western University and holds a BSc in Biology.

Yixin (pronounced as yee-sin) GUAN is a Senior Sector Advisor from the Industry and Sector Strategy Division, Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade with the Government of Ontario, where she leads the Digital Health sector development work. Yixin assists Digital Health companies from international jurisdictions expand operations into Ontario. She also helps existing Ontario-based Digital Health companies grow their business by assisting with domestic and international market development. Prior to her current role, Yixin worked on agency transformation at the Ministry of Finance. Yixin holds a master’s degree from the Munk School of Global Affairs, University of Toronto, where she focused her study on Innovation Policy and Economics.

  • Pamela ROBERTSON, Directrice Générale, AIRT Consulting Inc. pour MedTech Canada – l’association des technologies médicales au Canada

Following a focus on Psychology and Business at Queens University, Pamela progressed through increasingly senior positions at large pharmaceutical companies i.e. Boehringer Mannheim, Sanofi Winthrop and Nycomed Amersham and then to the multinational medical device companies Alcon, Zimmer and Edwards Lifesciences. Her roles within these organizations encompassed sales leadership, business development, marketing and portfolio management and strategic stakeholder relations. In 2014, Pamela formed her own business, AIRT Consulting, with a focus on supporting companies and their leaders through strategic planning, market validation, commercialization and health care advocacy. Through AIRT, she has successfully guided clients through the market analysis, business planning, product and talent acquisition and, in one case, facilitated the launch of a new Orthopaedic division in Canada.

  • Brian THORNTON, Spécialiste principal, Direction des Instruments Médicaux, Santé Canada – le Ministère fédéral canadien de la santé

With all of the changes that the Medical Devices Bureau is currently undertaking, and projects that are being worked on (e.g. MDSAP, GMDN, ToC, Regulatory Review of Drugs and Devices, etc.), there is a greater need than ever to develop a clear stakeholder engagement plan.  Brian Thornton joined the Medical Devices Bureau last year to lead the development of this plan.  Brian brings with him 20+ years of experience managing regulatory affairs in the medical device industry.  He has excelled in developing strong relationships with his clients in order to facilitate compliance within the industry.  Brian’s recent focus has been stakeholder engagement with the diverse group of Canadian medical devices stakeholders.  Brian’s success in this area is due to his knowledge of the medical device industry and his ability to bridge the gap between Health Canada and its stakeholders.
